Thailand Visa for a Muay Thai Training Camp: The Complete 2026 Guide
Planning to train in Thailand and wondering which visa to choose? Good news: for most travelers, the process is much simpler than you'd think. Whether you're going for a week, a month or several months, here's the complete guide to finding the visa that fits your Muay Thai project in Thailand.
Do you need a visa to go do a Muay Thai training camp in Thailand?
In most cases, no. Travelers from France, Belgium, Switzerland and many other countries benefit from a visa exemption on arrival in Thailand. You can enter the country without applying for a visa before you leave. This is the solution used by the vast majority of participants coming for a Muay Thai training camp.
Stay up to 60 days: no steps before departure
If your stay lasts 60 days or less, you generally don't need to apply for any visa. On arrival in Thailand, you just need to present:
- —A passport valid for at least 6 months
- —A return or onward ticket (which may be requested by the airline)
- —Accommodation details if required
You then get a 60-day visa exemption, with no prior formalities. This is the ideal solution for most Muay Thai training camps.
Want to stay up to 90 days?
If you want to extend your stay after the first 60 days, you can apply for an extension directly with Thai immigration. This process is quick and allows you to get up to 30 extra days, for a total stay of up to 90 days. Our team can advise you on this process if you need it during your stay.
The tourist visa
For some plans, it can also be worth applying for a tourist visa before departure. This option is especially suited if you'd prefer to arrive in Thailand with a visa already issued, or if your project requires different arrangements. The choice between a tourist visa and the visa exemption mainly depends on the length of your stay and your personal situation. If in doubt, our team can point you toward the most suitable option.
The DTV Soft Power visa: the best solution for long stays
Since 2024, Thailand has offered the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV), also known as the DTV Soft Power visa. This visa is aimed particularly at people who want to take part in activities recognized by Thailand, such as learning Muay Thai with eligible establishments. It offers 5-year validity with multiple entries and allows for extended stays, subject to meeting the eligibility conditions and the rules applicable to each entry.
If you want a genuine multi-month immersion in Thailand, or to come back regularly to train, the DTV visa is currently one of the most interesting options.
Depending on your project and your eligibility, KO Fight Camp can support you with the process for the DTV Soft Power visa. We help you determine whether this visa fits your stay and support you in preparing your application when the conditions are met.
